We’re thrilled to welcome Duran Henry for an upcoming workshop where you can create unique, hand-carved designs perfect for holiday cards! Learn how to carve your own linocut block, exploring Formline or your own style to make beautiful, printed creations. Duran will guide you through working with positive and negative space to bring your vision to life.
Workshop Details:- Create your own designs, carve your linocut, and leave with your carved block and printed holiday cards (Each participant will receive 2 blocks to create designs)- Gain printmaking skills to continue crafting in the future!Date: December 6th, 7th, 8thTime: Weekdays 5-9 ( Dec.6th), Weekends 10-5 (Dec 7th,8th)Location: 704 Main Street (Located in the Cornerstone Building)Registration Fee: $125/Person
About the ArtistDuran Henry, a Tlingit/Southern Tutchone artist from the Kwanlin Dün First Nation (Crow Clan), has been immersed in art since childhood. Son of Ray Shorty and nephew to artists Richard, Jim, and Eddie Shorty, Duran found his calling in carving and design. Joining NCES (formerly Sundog Carving Studio) in 2006, he has since built a career in wood carving, creating paddles, plaques, masks, and his own prints.Known for his bright smile and love of metal music, Duran is dedicated to teaching and sharing his skills with local youth. His art has been a source of strength, helping him navigate and overcome life’s challenges.
