Born and raised in Whitehorse, Yukon Sara Villeseche is a citizen of Tahltan Central Nation with Mohawk Nation decent, and is a member of the Crow and Turtle clan.
After interacting with carving participants at Northern Cultural Expressions Society, Sara was motivated to join the “Carving Our Path” program in May 2008. Developing her portfolio, Sara is continuously learning by engaging herself in workshops such as knife making, plaques, rattles, spoons and much more.
Sara enjoys learning about First Nation artwork and uses this knowledge to create her own original designs into paddles, rattles, plaques, and bowls.
“I was in school and was told about Northern Cultural Expressions Society’s Carving Program. I joined and stayed with the program as the years went on.”
