Little Salmon Carmacks citizen Rihanna Skookum was born in New Westminster and grew up in Carmacks, Yukon.
Moving to Whitehorse, Yukon, Rihanna joined Northern Cultural Expressions Society’s “Carving Our Path Program” in 2006 and is a current a participant in the Advanced Carving Program. She has had the opportunity to study under acknowledged artists such as Wayne Price, Victor Reece and Mark Preston. Her portfolio consists of paddles, plaques, panels and masks; and works in basswood, poplar, cedar and acrylic paint.
Rihanna participated in the Rendezvous International Snow Carving event in Whitehorse, Yukon and represented the Yukon carvers at Winterlude Festival in Ottawa, Ontario.
