Avid carver Owen Munroe was born in Blairmore, Alberta, 1987, relocating to Whitehorse, Yukon in 1988, and is Kaska First Nation and Ross River Dena Council decent.

Improving daily, Owen dedicates himself into carving an assortment of pieces such as paddles, canoe bowls, daggers, knife handles, spoons, panels, mini totems and plaques.

​

In 2011, Owen joined the “Carving Program” at Northern Cultural Expressions Society giving him the opportunity to participate in carving the healing totem pole for the former Residential School students with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

​

His involvement with Special Olympics Yukon has given Owen incredible opportunities as an athlete to participate in many sporting events as well as traveling to tournaments outside the Territory. He has competed in many sporting events but his most memorable memory was participating in the World Games in Boise, Idaho in 2009.
