Morgan Ayles Smith

Morgan Ayles Smith, a citizen of the Kwanlin Dün First Nations, was born in Whitehorse, Yukon, dividing his time between this small city and his home community Carmacks.

Due to his constant attendance in the studio, founder Andrew Finton of Northern Cultural Expressions Society offered Morgan a position in “Journey Far Carving Program” in Fall of 2009. In pursuit of advancing his skills, Morgan joined the Beginners Carving Program leading him to his current position in the Advanced Carving Program.

One of Morgan’s accomplished pieces was displayed in the international wing at the Eric Nielsen International Airport.

Inspired from his grandfather Stanley Smith, Morgan continues his carving journey.

“That my art will travel the world and go many places and have a story that follows.”
